The Power Of Faith
    
"Women received their loved ones back again from death. But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection."
Hebrews 11:35 (NLT)
 
As we read this chapter of Hebrews we are reminded of the great accomplishments that were worked by faith. How by faith the mouths of lion were shut, flames of fire were quenched, people escaped death from the edge of the sword, how entire armies were set to flight, and even the dead were raised. These are great feats that would make exciting movies. But, faith also gave many believers the strength to endure terrible things; things that we all hope we will never have to endure. Faith gave many of God's children the power to endure terrible torture. By faith the saints of old were able to keep their stand with God even in the face of death; they were whipped, put in prison, and stoned to death, and because of the power of faith they never lost hope for a better tomorrow! Perhaps today you are facing tragedy and distress of unmeasurable proportion. Maybe you're even facing death. Whatever it is you may be facing, know that the faith which Christ has given you will provide you the power to make it through. You will be victorious, one way or the other! Death and the grave have both lost their claim on you! You have a hope and a future that nothing can take from you!
 
"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJ)
