Godly Courage
     
"You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition." 1 Thessalonians 2:2 (NLT)
 
Paul and his companions had faced great persecution, yet they continued to push forward declaring the message of the Gospel. How were they able to do this when confronted by such great resistance? Godly Courage! Godly Courage comes from God, and it gave Paul and his companions the ability to proclaim the Gospel message even though persecution lurked all around them.
 
Godly Courage is given by God for the work of God! God has entrusted us with a Great Mission! A Mission in which we will surely face resistance from the enemy. For this reason we will need a special kind of courage to succeed in our mission, a courage that surpasses mere mortal fortitude, and passes over into the heavenly realm. We need the courage of God to do the work of God upon planet earth! The Message of Jesus Christ must be proclaimed throughout the world, so we must be filled with the courage of God that is bequeathed upon us by grace alone! Look to God to fill you with the courage needed to fulfill the Mission you have been called to! Knowing that this courage surpasses your own strength, and can only be received through dependence upon Jesus Christ!
