The Timing Of God
     
"David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years over all Israel and Judah." 2 Samuel 5:4-5 (NKJ)
 
When David was a boy of about fifteen years old the prophet Samuel came to him and anointed him king over Israel. But, it wouldn't be until fifteen year later that David would actually be crowned king over Judea, and seven more years before he was finally crowned king over all of Israel. I can only imagine David's excitement as a teenager when he was anointed king. He knew what God had for him; he had heard God's word for his life from the mighty prophet Samuel! Yet it would take many years for him to finally receive God's promise. I'm sure David often wondered, and even doubted at times, if God's Word would ever be fulfilled. But, in God's perfect time, David became king over all of Israel, so that God's Word might be fulfilled concerning his life.
 
The timing of God can be a difficult thing for our minds to accept, and virtually impossible to understand. The best we can do is learn to trust and wait on God, knowing His Word concerning our life will come to pass in the appointed time. If God has given you a Word for your life and you haven't seen it come to pass, don't give up on God! He is faithful! Wait on God and remain faithful! And, in God's appointed time you will see His word for your life come to pass in full!
