Don't Be Afraid To Ask

"Then he said, Let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak but once more: Suppose ten should be found there? And He said, I will not destroy it for the sake of ten." Genesis 18:32 (NKJ)

What confidence Abraham must have had in his relationship with God! Abraham starts off asking God to spare the city of Sodom for the sake of fifty people and God agrees to his request. Abraham continues to ask for the city to be spared on the account of even fewer individuals, until he finally gets down to ten people. Each time Abraham makes a request the Lord responds with a "yes". Abraham was confident in where he stood with the Lord, but he retained an attitude of humility and reverence towards Him.

We must not be afraid to ask God for our heart's desire. But, we must do it with the same attitude of humility and reverence that Abraham had. We should have a complete assurance of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. And, though we have that relationship we must always respect God, and His answer, whether "yes" or "no", when we come to Him in prayer. We should never fear asking our Father for anything, but we should never go to Him demanding He grant our request. He is our Father and our relationship with Him is sure and firm in Jesus Christ, but we should keep an attitude of reverence at all times! Respect Your Heavenly Father as the all-powerful God of the Universe He is, but never be afraid to go before Him with your request; He loves you!!

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJ)
