Exercising Wisdom
     
"Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don't forget my words or turn away from them." Proverbs 4:5 (NLT)
 
As we consider the things of monetary value that many seek after, seldom is wisdom included, yet the Bible declares, "Wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it" (Proverbs 8:11, NLT). Wisdom gives us the power to gain wealth! Not only does it give us the power to gain wealth, it gives us the ability to successfully engage the enemy in spiritual warfare! Having the knowledge of how to fight the enemy is not the same as having the wisdom to apply that knowledge. We must have both if we are going to be successful in our efforts to overthrow the works of the devil in our lives and in the world around us! Wisdom gives us the ability to fight the enemy in a productive manner, to use our resources and energy in a way that will most benefit the Kingdom of God!
 
J.I. Packer said, "Wisdom is the power to see and the inclination to choose the best and highest goal, together with the surest means of attaining it." The wisdom that shows itself to be wiser than anything the enemy can produce comes only from the Lord, and is available to us upon request. "If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking" (James 1:5, NLT). Attempting to combat the devil with our own understanding and discernment is a sure recipe for disaster! If you will seek the wisdom that comes from the throne room of our Lord, you will surely live the life of a victorious overcomer!
