Godly Strongholds
     
"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days."           Daniel 6:10 (NKJ)
 
Daniel had developed a custom, or habit, of praying three times a day. This habit had nothing to do with how he felt, or even what was going through his mind on a daily basis, but everything to do with a conditioned response to being on planet earth that day. This custom, or habit, was a godly stronghold that had been built up in his life; a stronghold that would help to ensure his success in Babylon.
 
When old demonic strongholds are torn down in our lives new godly ones must be established in their place; if we merely tear down and never build up a stronghold for the Lord, we can be certain the enemy will be back, prepared to build an even stronger-hold in that area of our life! "When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, 'I will return to the person I came from.' So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before" (Luke 11:24-26, NLT).
 
Godly strongholds can be created in our lives through disciplined daily activities, under the power of the Holy Spirit. These disciplined activities, done over a period of time, can develop into godly strongholds/habits. To be effective in the expansion of God's Kingdom we're going to have to have godly strongholds, fortified places in our lives, which the enemy cannot break through with is deceptive works of destruction. Habits of daily prayer, reading the Bible, and speaking God's Word over negative and distressing situations are some of the strongholds that should be developed in our lives! These habits will help to secure our success in the Mission we have been entrusted with!
