Obeying God
     
"...What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams." 1 Samuel 15:22 (NLT)
 
Saul has moved from being a godly king, to seeking the praises of man, and now to walking in disobedience towards the Word of the Lord. As the Prophet Samuel confronts him about it he attempts to justify his actions, instead of humbling himself and seeking the Lord's forgiveness. Samuel reminds Saul that the Lord is looking for those who will follow His voice, those who will trust in Him and submit their lives to His loving arms.
 
God's not looking for what we can sacrifice to Him; He's looking for people who will walk according to His Word! God wants people who will follow Him blindly by faith! It is faith that pleases God, not sacrifice! Obedience is nothing more than an outward demonstration of an inward faith! All the blessings of God flow to us by faith! We are able to judge our level of faith by our obedience to God's Word. Blind faith will follow the Word of God anywhere! It will trust in the Lord out of a heart full of love for Him. D.L. Moody once said, "Faith makes all things possible... love makes all things easy." Loving God makes it much easier to trust Him. And, if we trust Him we will walk and act in faith, obeying His Word! If we do this, we can be sure the impossible will be opened up to us!
 
"It's impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that he exists and that he cares enough to respond to those who seek him."
