"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations...'"Matthew 28:18-19 (NIV)
 
When Jesus dies on the cross and was resurrected, He took back the authority that was originally given to Adam to reign upon this earth; the same authority that Adam lost to the devil when he sinned. With the authority, that was once lost, back in hand, Jesus calls His followers to partner with Him to redeem the lost back to Him; to go throughout all the earth and share the Good News; to destroy everything the devil has set up on planet earth; to make fruitful disciples of all those who would call on His name for salvation. And, we are capable of doing all this because Jesus has all authority, and has delegated that authority to us, to do His business on planet earth.
 
Abraham Wright, a Puritan writer from the 1600's, once said, "The danger may exceed thy resistance, but not God's assistance; the enemies' power may surpass thy strength, their subtlety outwit thy prudence, but neither can excel the wisdom and might of God that is with thee." Not only is the might and power of God with us to do His bidding, but it is indeed inside us! There can be no doubt that the enemy still has power, but the power that works in us, and through us, is much greater! But, the authority he once held, he holds no more! That authority belongs to our Lord, and has been given to us, so that we may be successful in destroying all the enemy's works and plans to enslave mankind!
