God's Mercy
     
"So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it." Romans 9:16 (NLT)
 
Mercy, it is an undeserved compassion; it is not something we can earn or merit, if we could it wouldn't be described as mercy. The Bible is clear that God's mercy is not something we can work for. We can never be good enough or do enough good works to merit ourselves before God. God, in His great compassion, freely distributes His unconditional mercy to everyone who calls on the name of Jesus. God surely wants us to do good things so that His name may be glorified throughout the earth, but the mercy He chooses to show us through Jesus Christ is not conditional on those good works.
 
Know today that God desires to show you mercy because of Jesus! And, you don't have to work for it, or deserve it in any way; it is simply there to receive because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross! Expect God's mercy to continually show up in your life! Be prepared to freely receive His mercy, never trying to justify yourself before Him! If you are in Christ, you are a child of God, eligible to freely receive all the mercy your loving Father so eagerly looks to lavish you with!
