Don't Give Up
     
"Now Gehazi went on ahead of them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice nor hearing. Therefore he went back to meet him, and told him, saying, 'The child has not awakened.'" 2 Kings 4:31 (NKJ)
 
A friend of Elisha comes to him with news of her son's death. She has come to the prophet looking for a miracle! When Elisha hears the news he is ready and willing to help. He sends his servant Gehazi to place his staff on the boy, believing he will be raised back to life when he does so. Gehazi does as Elisha tells him and returns with the news that nothing happened! The news had to be both devastating and disappointing for Elisha and the mother, but Elisha doesn't give up. Elisha stepped pass the disappointment, and went to the boy himself. Elisha enters the room where the boy is, prays, and then stretches out on top of him; the boy's body became warm, but he had no movement. Elisha gets up, walks around the room and then lays on the boy again, this time the boy comes to life! Elisha refused to give up, even though things didn't work out like he expected the first time he tried. Elisha dared to believe God despite what his eyes saw! Elisha believed God, refusing to quit, and the miraculous was manifested!
 
Many time things don't work out just like we hoped they would when we pray. When this happens we have a choice, we can allow disappointment to stop us dead in our tracks, or we can dare to believe God and refuse to quit! When we pray for the sick, or for any kind of miracle, we must understand the devil will be there to resist us. We must approach each situation with a "no quit" attitude! An attitude that dares to believe God regardless of what may happen the first, second, or even third time we pray! We must hold to God's Word believing to see it manifested, and commit ourselves to continue to pray until something happens! If you're believing God for a miracle that falls in line with His Word, refuse to give in when the devil resists you! Continue to pray until the miraculous is manifested! If you can believe, you will receive!
