Freedom
     
"So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law." Galatians 5:1 (NLT)
 
Throughout Paul's letter to the Galatians you can sense his frustration. He had shared with them the simplicity and truth of God's grace, which is found in the Gospel, and the people had embraced that truth and grace. But now they had been enticed into forsaking the simplicity of the Gospel in favor of the Law. Jesus had made them free, but now as they began to entangle themselves with the Law they ran the risk of becoming enslaved to a system that could never make them right with God, and would do nothing but hinder them from receiving God's goodness and mercy.
 
It is only through Jesus Christ that we find true freedom! Many of God's children, just like the Galatians, start off freely receiving the grace which the Gospel message brings. But over time they begin to transition into some form of a legalistic system in which they try to justify themselves before God. They try to merit themselves before God, attempting to earn God's promises and blessings. This is a foolish and vain pursuit, which can lead to nothing but disappointment and frustration. Remember that Christ has set you free! Cherish the freedom you have received through the Gospel, refusing to try and justify yourself before God, but simply receiving His mercy and goodness based off the work of Jesus Christ and your relationship with Him! Stay free!!
