Forgiving
     
"He fell to his knees, shouting, Lord, don't charge them with this sin!" And with that, he died." Acts 7:60
 
As Stephen proclaimed the truth of God's word the religious Jews became angry, so much so that they stoned him to death. As Stephen was being stoned he made a choice to forgive the men stoning him. Stephen refused to hold any resentment in his heart, but instead petitioned the Lord on their behave. Stephen had been freely forgiven by Christ, and he was prepared to do the same for his persecutors.
 
Forgiveness, easy to talk about, hard to do, especially when someone has deeply done us wrong. C.S. Lewis said, "Every one says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive." Forgiveness may not be easy, but it is necessary for us to live a full and bountiful life in Christ! Un-forgiveness is like a cancer that eats away at every fiber of our life. But, unlike cancer there is a cure, it's called forgiveness. Forgiveness set us free from the prison that un-forgiveness hold us in. It softens our heart and frees our soul. If someone has done you a great wrong, realize forgiving them will bless you! True forgiveness can be very difficult, and in many cases only possible by the grace of God, but it is a liberating experience for the soul that has been tormented by this "cancer"! Choose to forgive, regardless of how you feel, depending on the Lord to give you the grace you'll need! BE FREE!!
 
"Be alert. If you see your friend going wrong, correct him. If he responds, forgive him. Even if it's personal against you and repeated seven times through the day, and seven times he says, 'I'm sorry, I won't do it again,' forgive him." Matthew 17:3-4 (MSG)
