Change of Perspective
     
"Jesus said to them, 'Come with me. I'll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I'll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass.' They didn't ask questions, but simply dropped their nets and followed." Matthew 4:19-20 (MSG)
 
The first followers of Jesus were fisherman, and Jesus didn't look to change their position, just their perspective. Jesus wanted them to see fishing from a different perspective; one that would yield a greater return for their labor than they had ever imagined. I believe God is still trying to change His follower's perspective, so that they may see their lives from an eternal perspective, and not merely an earthly-temporal one. As we live for eternity we can be sure our outlook on life will change, we will gain a completely new perspective; a perspective that sees the eternal significance of a life spent focused on redeeming the souls of mankind back to God! David Livingston, the great Scottish missionary to Africa, once said, "People talk of the sacrifice I have made in spending so much of my life in Africa. It is emphatically no sacrifice. Say rather it is a privilege." Perspective...a life spent on the pursuit of winning men and woman back to God is a life of privilege and honor, but it takes the right perspective to live as this! Change your perspective form and earthly one to a heavenly one and you will indeed live a life of eternal significance that will not fade when you leave this planet!
