"In this way, Solomon did what was evil in the Lord's sight; he refused to follow the Lord completely, as his father, David, had done."
1 Kings 11:6 (NLT)
 
Solomon allowed his heart to go astray and refused to follow the Lord with all his heart as his father David had. David was by far a perfect man, he made a lot of mistakes, but David allowed nothing to take prominence in his heart other than God. David's heart belongs to God! Today that is exactly what God want from each of us, our complete heart! God wants us to willingly follow Him with all that we are! We are to hold nothing back! Alexander MacLaren, an English minister of the 19th century, said, "Faith does not grasp a doctrine, but a heart. The trust which Christ requires is the bond that unites souls with Him; and the very life of it is entire committal of myself to Him in all my relations and for all my needs, and absolute utter confidence in Him as all sufficient for everything that I can require." Give God all your heart, for He has given you His! Trust Him with all you are, for He has entrusted you with the Holy Spirit! Actively, and faithfully, love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and everything else will fall into line!
