"Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you." 1 Timothy 4:16 (NLT)
 
In our daily routine it can be easy to get caught up in the things of this world, to get drawn into many of the traps laid down by the enemy. The problem with many of these traps is that they may not seem sinful in their nature, but they are designed to pull us away from all God has called us to do. We would all be wise to pay close attention to how we are living; to take time to examine our lives, making sure we are staying the course God has set us on. Daniel Defoe, a 17th century writer most famous for his novel Robinson Crusoe, said, "Whenever God erects a house of prayer, the devil always builds a chapel there; and 'twill be found, upon examination, the latter has the largest congregation." The enemy is continually trying to draw us off track, so we must continually examine ourselves and our works. Make time to regularly give yourself a check-up to ensure you are still on the path Christ set you on!
 
"Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. But resist him, be firm in your faith [against his attack-rooted, established, immovable]..." 1 Peter 5:8-9 (AMP)
