A Great Inheritance
 
"We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory." 1 Thessalonians 2:12 (NLT)
 
We spend a lot of time thinking and looking for earthly rewards, but the problem with these rewards are that they will eventually fade and disappear. Earthly rewards are pleasant and appealing, but only temporal. On the other hand, God's children have been promised something far greater than any earthly reward or inheritance could offer, we are promised an eternal reward! We have the promise of sharing in the Kingdom of our Lord! We have the promise of something so incredible no mortal mind can conceive it! William Gurnall, a 17th century minister and author, said, "Bid faith look through the key-hole of the promise, and tell thee what it sees there laid up for him that overcomes; bid it listen and tell thee whether it cannot hear the shout of those crowned saints, as of those that are dividing the spoil, and receiving the reward of all their services and sufferings here on earth." Earthly rewards are nice, but heavenly rewards are beyond comprehension and they are eternal! Set your heart on what God has laid up for you! Seek the rewards that our Lord will personally deliver to you! Set your heart on eternity and reap eternal rewards!
