Take A Checkup
 
"Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you." 2 Corinthians 13:5 (MSG)
 
Just as it's a good practice to regularly have a checkup to make sure we are in good physical health, it's also a good practice for us to regularly take a spiritual checkup to ensure we are growing in the Lord and staying on the right track. We would be wise to stop what we're doing and take a good hard look in the mirror on a regular basis to see exactly where we stand with Christ. As we travel through this life there are many things that the enemy will use to pull us off course. There are trials and tribulations we will face, that if not dealt with probably could stunt our growth in Christ, and even cause us to fall away. Thomas Watson, a 17th century Puritan preacher and author, said, "Make up your spiritual accounts daily; see how matters stand between God and your souls . Often reckonings keep God and conscience friends. Do with your hearts as you do with your watches, wind them up every morning by prayer, and at night examine whether your hearts have gone true all that day, whether the wheels of your affections have moved swiftly toward heaven." Take time today to give yourself a spiritual checkup, and be honest with yourself as you do so. It will ensure that your relationship with the Lord is in good standings, and that you are continuing to grow closer to Him, so that you may do and fulfill all He has for you in this life!
