Ready and Waiting
 
"Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks." Luke 12:35-36 (NLT)
 
Jesus tells this story to emphasize to His followers the importance of staying alert and diligent, concerning their earthly assignment and His imminent return. We know without a doubt that one day our Lord will return! But, until that day comes we are to labor diligently at the assignment of spreading the Gospel message, making disciples, and destroying the works of the devil upon this earth. We are to live every day as though our Lord is returning that very day! For in truth, we don't know exactly when He will return, and He very well maybe returning this very day! We are to stay in a state of ever readiness, preparing the earth around us for His return. Jesus said, "You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected."  We can be sure that Jesus will return! And when He does let Him find His Church doing the work of the Great Commission He has entrusted it with! Let Him find good and faithful servants doing the work they were enlisted to do!
