Going To The Source

"He went in alone and shut the door behind him and prayed to the Lord." 2 Kings 4:33 (NLT)

The Shunammite woman had went to Elisha seeking his help for her dead son. Elisha comes to her aid, but he sends his servant ahead of them with instructions to take his staff and lay it on the boy's face. The servant does as the Elisha tells him to, but nothing happens, the boy remains lifeless. Elisha was a powerful prophet of the Lord, and was a custom to seeing God's power manifest at his word, but that was not the case this time. When Elisha arrives at the house and here's the news that the boy is still dead, he enters the room alone, and goes to the Lord in prayer. Before Elisha makes another attempt to raise the boy back to life he goes to the source of his power and faith. Elisha knew he was going to need more faith and more power than he had, so he sought the Lord out for that which he needed, and only then did he attempt to raise the child back to life. And, though it didn't happen right away Elisha would not quit, and he would be successful, because he had received the power and faith he needed to raise the child back to life.

The Bible teaches us that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. It starts with Jesus and it ends with Him also! The Bible also teaches us that faith makes all things possible. So, when we want the impossible to become possible all we need to do is apply faith to the situation at hand. And, if we are short on faith we need look nowhere else but to Jesus to receive that which we need. If you're looking to do the impossible, step out and apply your faith to whatever it is you're doing! If you don't have the faith needed, don't give up, instead turn to Jesus, the source of your faith, and allow Him to multiply your faith! With the Lord as our source of power and faith there is no mountain we cannot move, no enemy we cannot defeat, and no obstacle we cannot overcome! Have faith, and you will live in the realm of the Lord's power, where all things are possible!

"Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith..."
Hebrews 12:1-2 (NASB)
