Abundant Mercy  
  
"And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, 'Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.' So he went out and wept bitterly." Matthew 26:75 (NKJ)
 
Jesus had told Peter he would deny Him three times, and even though Peter was told of his fall, he still fell. But, Peter's failure was met by God's mercy and grace! Peter did wrong and he knew it! He was broken and downtrodden because of his failure, but God's abundant mercy would wipe out Peter's failure and extend to him grace that would restore him.
 
No matter how great your sin and failure may be, God's grace and mercy is much greater! When we fail and miss the mark our Lord is there to extend a hand of mercy offering us grace to stand back up! Thomas Watson, an English, non-conformist, Puritan preacher and author, said, "God is more willing to pardon than to punish. Mercy does more multiply in Him than sin in us. Mercy is His nature." No matter how big your failure and sin may be God's mercy and grace is much bigger! There are no words to describe the abundance of mercy and grace that our God is willing to pour out upon those who will humble themselves before Him! If you are in need of mercy and grace, know this, there is a God in Heaven who is willing to freely and abundantly shower you with both! Those who humbly seek God's mercy and grace will never be disappointed!
 
"God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
