Listen To God 
  
"But the old prophet answered, I am a prophet, too, just as you are. And an angel gave me this command from the Lord: 'Bring him home with you so he can have something to eat and drink.' But the old man was lying to him." 1 Kings 13:18 (NLT)
 
God had given the young prophet He sent to King Jeroboam specific instructions on what He wanted him to do and how he was to do it. Now an old prophet wants him to abandon God's instructions to come to his home for dinner, and tells the young prophet a lie to get him off track. The young prophet probably knew the older prophet and gave ear to his words, even though they were lies, believing they were from God. The young prophet made a terrible mistake, he had received a word directly from God on what He was to do, and if God wanted that altered in any way He would have gave him knew direction Himself. The young prophet turned from the path God had laid out for him and paid the price when he was killed by a lion on his way home.
 
When God gives us a word of instruction we would be wise to follow through with that word! We would also be wise to be on alert for anyone who tries to move us from that path, even if they are someone we know and respect. The Holy Spirit lives inside every born again believer, and if someone gives us a word they claim is from God, the Holy Spirit in us should let our spirit know that the word is genuine. The Apostle John in his first epistle wrote, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." Listen to God! Follow the path He has laid out for you! Beware of anyone who gives you a word or advice that contradicts what God has already told you! The enemy wants to destroy all God has for us, and will use anyone he can to do just that! Don't allow the enemy to steal what God has prepared for you! There are many voices calling out to us, let us turn our ears and hearts to God, walking the path He has laid out, so that we may accomplish all the great works He has prepared for us on this earth!
