"So he said to his servants, 'See, Joab's field is near mine, and he has barley there; go and set it on fire.' And Absalom's servants set the field on fire." 2 Samuel 14:30 (NKJ)

Absalom had repeatedly tried to get Joab's attention, but Joab ignored all of Absalom's attempts. In a final effort to get Joab's attention he has his servants burn down Joab's barley fields. Well, this avenue succeeds in getting Joab's attention. Joab comes to Absalom and is furious! It was unfortunate for Joab that it took such a drastic measure before he would honor Absalom's request.

There are many things in this world that call-out for our attention, but only one of them will receive prominence in our hearts, we would be wise to allow that "One" to be our God. Too often God cries out to His children to no avail. The "One" who loves us and gave everything for us, is often times unable to get our attention; it is unfortunate when it takes a tragic event to hit our lives for God's children to pay attention to His cries! Choose to listen to that still small voice that cries out to you today. God has plans to lead us in paths of prosperity for His name sake, but we must give Him our attention, we must follow His voice! Don't wait for tragedy to come before you look to the Lord and heed His cries! Of all the voices that call out to you today give your attention to Gods!
