"And though Absalom never spoke to Amnon about this, he hated Amnon deeply because of what he had done to his sister." 2 Samuel 13:22 (NLT)

Amnon and Absalom were brothers, both sons of the king, but with different mothers. Amnon did a great evil in raping his half-blooded sister Tamar, which was Absalom's full-blooded sister. Absalom hated Amon for the evil he had done to his sister, and never found a way to forgive Amnon. This hate and anger would eat Ablsalom up until eventually he killed his brother Amnon. Absalom's hate and anger would ultimately lead to his death.

Unforgiveness is a cancerous disease that eats away at a person until it has fully consumed them. Unforgiveness brings nothing but death and destruction; it holds a person prisoner until it is released. Corrie Ten Boom said, "Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart." Making a decision to forgive someone who has done us a great wrong never feels good at the time, but our forgiveness is not an act of our emotions but of our will. We must choose to forgive! If someone has done a great evil to you I encourage you to forgive them and pray for them. Not for their sake, but for yours and the Lords. Forgiveness will set you free from the hate and anger that eats away at you like a cancer. Choose to be free, and forgive those who have done evil to you.

"Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)
