"'Don't be afraid!' David said. 'I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king's table!'" 2 Samuel 9:7 (NLT)

David had made a covenant with Jonathan, and because of this covenant Jonathan's son Mephibosheth would now be blessed. David would take Mephibosheth in, restore to him all that had belonged to his family and had previously been loss, and then he would even feed him from the King's table. Mephibosheth was blessed not because of something he did, but because of a covenant his father and king entered into many years ago.

Much the same way that Mephibosheth's father and king entered into a covenant, so our Heavenly Father and our King entered into a covenant long ago. And, just as Mephibosheth found himself blessed because of the covenant between his father and king, so we are also greatly blessed because of the covenant our Father and King have entered into. This covenant is an everlasting one! One that will never be broken! It is not a covenant we can break, because we didn't make it. We enter this covenant by grace through faith. It has nothing to do with our works or accomplishments, it has to do with the agreement our Father and King made. Our King has restored to us all that Adam lost! We have been given authority and power upon this earth! We now live in a state of blessedness because of the covenant that has been made! Look to be blessed! Live in the power and authority that has been restored to you! Rely on and accept the grace God desires to show you, for you are now a child of the King!
