Guidance

"David inquired of the Lord, 'Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?' The Lord answered him, 'Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.'" 2 Samuel 5:19 (NIV)

David had been appointed king of Israel by the Lord, and the Spirit of the Lord was with David. Still, David didn't take for granted the Lord's guidance. David was king, but he knew he needed the continual wisdom and favor of the Lord to make him successful. So, before David went out to battle, or when he faced a challenge, or some difficulty he made it his custom to seek the Lord for Divine Guidance.

We too would be wise to follow David's example and always seek the Lord's guidance in whatever we do. David was an accomplished and feared warrior, yet he refused to depend on his own strength or understanding. No matter how successful or educated we may be, we must always lean on the Lord, looking to Him for guidance. God is ready to direct or way, leading us in paths of prosperity for His name sake, but we must choose to seek His guidance! I encourage you, regardless of how much you know or how talented you may be, seek God before you act! Refuse to trust in your own understanding of things, and always look to the Lord, allowing Him to guide your foot-steps!

"O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps." Jeremiah 10:23 (NKJ)
