"The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength." 1 Samuel 2:4 (NIV)

A warrior prides himself in his own strength. He relies on the skills he has acquired to face and overcome whatever challenges he may encounter. A warrior holds his accomplishments as a badge of honor and desires to be recognized for his many accolades. A warrior indeed sees himself as a self-made man.

There is another who fights as a warrior, but has no strength of his own. He claims victory by the power and authority of another. This warrior, though living in victory, takes no glory for his accolades, he realizes the glory belongs to the One who gave him the power to overcome. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, "God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs." Those who refuse to trust in their own strength, and realize that on their own they are totally and completely incapable of successfully doing anything, will be armed with great strength to overcome any situation by the Lord. When we understand we have no real strength apart from our Savior, and we look to Him at ALL times and in ALL situations, we will be overcome with the power and favor of Heaven! No matter how gifted, talented, or wealthy we may be, we can do nothing on our own! Our personal strength is nothing more than a cheap illusion!   We need God! And, we need Him for everything and at all times! It is in the realization of our weakness and inadequacy that we can receive the strength and provision of our Lord!
