Don't Embrace Disappointment

"But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house." Genesis 40:14

Joseph was no stranger to disappointment.  Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers.  While in slavery things were looking up, but a false accusation landed him in prison.  While in prison he meets up with two of Pharaoh's officers who had dreams, but had no one to interpret those dreams for them.  Joseph comes to them and interprets the dreams for them.  To the butler of Pharaoh he says, "You will be restored."  He tells the butler, "Remember me when you go back into Pharaoh's presence."  But, once release, as Joseph had foretold, he quickly forgot about him.  It was two years before the butler remembered Joseph and spoke to Pharaoh about him.

It would be 15 years after Joseph had his dream of ruling over his brothers, that he finally made it to the palace.  In that time Joseph would face much disappointment, but Joseph made a choice never to embrace it!  Joseph held to his God given dream, and denied disappointment from having a place in his life!  We all face disappointment, it is unavoidable.  Things happen that make no sense, we hurt, we cry, and we wonder why; and that ok.  But, like Joseph through it all we must hang on to our God given dreams and refuse to embrace disappointment!  Disappointment is like a spiritual cancer, it eats away our hope and faith!  When disappointment comes, refuse to embrace it!  Trust God when nothing makes sense and it feels like your world is falling apart.  God is faithful!  And, He will see you through!  He will see you through to the fulfillment of your dream!  Hold tight to your dream, despite the circumstances!  The victory is yours in Jesus Christ!

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Psalms 23:4
