Rest...

"And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done." Genesis 2:2

God created everything in six days, and He rested on the seventh and He sanctified the seventh day. The Sabbath day of rest would signify something great to come. The Sabbath was a picture of Jesus and what He would do for us. Paul, in writing to the church in Colosse reminds them that the Sabbath day was a shadow of something to come, and the reality of that shadow was found in Christ. For, all who enter into Jesus Christ are able to rest from their works! This means we don't have to try to justify ourselves before God, Jesus has done it for us! Many try desperately to earn a spot in Heaven, they labor diligently to prove they deserve it. But, the Bible is clear that no one can justify themselves before God. There is only one way to be right with God, and to find true rest, and that is to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ excepting the sacrifice He made for us. If you find yourselves trying to earn God's love or mercy, remember you can't do it! God's love and mercy can only be freely received through Jesus Christ! Choose today to rest from your labors depending totally on the finished work of Jesus Christ! The Bible says, "For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His." You don't have to earn God's blessings, His favor, or His love; Jesus did it for you. Let us relax in the arms of Christ, enjoying His finished work on the cross!

"So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished!' And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit." John 19:30
