Wrestling In Prayer...

"Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured." Colossians 4:12

Often the Apostle Paul asked the churches he wrote to, to intercede in prayer for him; as was the case with church in Colosse. Paul encouraged them to devote themselves to prayer. Paul wanted them to pray for him and his companions as they continued on their mission for Christ!

Paul also reveals a great truth to them, and to us, about prayer, that many of God's children are missing, when he tells them that Epaphas was wrestling in prayer for them; that is to say he was contending or fighting with the advisory for them! It was no half -hearted affair when he entered into prayer, it was a fight! This is how the Apostle Paul understood intercessory prayer, and it is how we should understand it also!

We are also told in the Book of Ephesians that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but the spiritual forces of the enemy that seek to destroy the children of God! Intercessory prayer should be viewed and approached as an intense battle between us and the spiritual forces of satan, who are out to steal, kill, and destroy the children of God! It should not be taken lightly! We are to intercede in prayer, fighting with the evil one, with, and on behalf, of our brothers and sisters in Christ!

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone." 1 Timothy 2:1
