Rejoice This Day...

"This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

It is believed that King David wrote this psalm. David was a man who when reflecting on his life could recall a lot of good days and a lot of bad ones. He could recall the day the prophet called him out from among his brothers to anoint him as king of all of Israel when he was just a teenager! He could recall the day he slew the giant Goliath and all of Israel praised his name! These were grand days! But, David was also able to recall the day when he lost his baby son, even though he fasted and mourned before the Lord. He could recall the day his oldest son rebelled against him and he had to flee from his kingdom, only to later see his son killed. David was indeed acquainted with both good and bad days. Still, David understood that each day was made by God, and though not every day was a good one for him; everyday he could choose to praise God, regardless of his circumstances. He knew God was always with him and this was a reason to rejoice and be glad! We all begin this day not knowing what it will hold. For some of us it will hold laughter, for others it will be filled with tears. But, whichever it may be we can be sure that God will see us through it, and that He will be right by our side and this gives us a reason to rejoice! As God's children we do not rejoice at our circumstances at hand, but at the fact that God is with us and our names are written in Heaven! Rejoice today and be glad; God is with you and loves you!

"Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." Psalms 118:1
