Knowing Vs. Being Known...

"Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, 'We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.'" Acts 19:13

While in Ephesus God worked many miraculous works by the hands of Paul. The people of Ephesus witnessed firsthand the wonders that were done in the Name of "Jesus". There came a time when seven Jewish men decided to go to one who was demon possessed and cast the demon out in the name of "Jesus". These men had undoubtedly witnessed the Apostle Paul do this before, and must have thought "if he can do it so can we". What a surprise it must have been when they told the demon to come out of the man in the name of "Jesus" whom Paul preached and the demon turned and looked at them and said, " Jesus I know and Paul I know but who are you". I can only imagine the horror on their faces as the demon came at them attacking them and ripping off all their clothes. What a hard lesson these men learned!

There is a sharp difference between knowing about someone and actually knowing them. The Jewish men knew about Jesus, but they had no relationship with Him as Paul did! There are many today who know all about Jesus, yet they have no relationship with Him. It is one thing to know about a person, it is another to be known by that person. What a terrifying day it will be for many on the Day of Judgment who know about Jesus but are not known by Him! Let us each examine ourselves to see if we truly stand in the faith. Do we have a relationship with Jesus Christ? If you don't, waist no more time, call on the name of "Jesus" and ask Him to save you! If you do have one, cultivate it and make it better. Seek daily to know more and more of our glorious Lord and Savior!

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." Matthew 7:21
