Careful With Your Words...

"Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips." Psalms 141:3

Here's a statement we could all say, "AMEN" to! Too often we allow our mouth to run ahead of our thoughts, especially in times of anger and stress. We say something and then pray we could take it back! But, once the words leave our lips it too late! We like the psalmist must look to the Lord and pray for guidance with our words. Our words are powerful, they build up and they tear down. We can turn someone's day around by simply saying a few kind words, or we can destroy it by saying something negative to them. Let us be ever so aware of the power of our words, as we guard our tongue, taking time to weight the outcome of our words, and looking to God for guidance with them. The power of life and death are indeed in the tongue, let us be careful how we use that power!
