The Abiding Blessing...

"The best of all firstfruits of any kind, and every sacrifice of any kind from all your sacrifices, shall be the priest's; also you shall give to the priest the first of your ground meal, to cause a blessing to rest on your house."  

Ezekiel 44:30

God sets up provision for the priest by designating everything that was offered by Israel to Him would go to those who hold the office of the priest.  The best of all firstfruits and of all special gifts brought to be offered to the Lord would go to the priest.  God assures Israel, by them giving these offerings that a blessing would rest upon their household.  It's amazing to think, they would not only receive a blessing but the blessing would actually come and settle upon their house!

Today God has likewise promised to bless those who are faithful in giving for the advancement and work of the Kingdom.  When the apostle Paul wrote to the Philippian church about their giving he told them it wasn't that he was looking for a gift, but he was looking to what may be credited to their account.  Paul told them the gifts they had sent were like a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.  Paul then assures them that God would in turn meet all their needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  The blessing of God was going to rest upon them because of their obedient heart in providing for the needs of Paul as he labored for the Kingdom.  God's blessings rest on all those who give with a gracious heart to the work of the Kingdom and the furtherance of the Gospel!

"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
