Vigilant Prayer...

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving." Colossians 4:2

A vigilant prayer is one that watches and waits, refusing to give up, for its prayer to be answered.  While we watch and wait we give thanks for all God has done for us already, and all He has promised to do!  Praying with vigilance is all about expectations.  When I pray I expect God to answer my prayer, just as He said He would.  The Lord said, "It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear."  When we pray we should expect an answer!  Sometimes that answer is "no", and even though that is an answer we don't want to hear, it is still an answer.  A prayer with no expectation of God answering it is a wasted prayer.  When you pray expect God to answer!  And, don't give up just because the answer is delayed or doesn't come as soon as you would like!  Don't miss the answer to your prayer because you gave up looking and waiting for it!  Pray, expecting an answer, watching and waiting for God to respond in His time, and while you are waiting give thanks to the One who loves you!
