Running Swiftly...

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you."

2 Thessalonians 3:1

It was Paul's desire to see the Gospel message move quickly throughout the world.  Paul knew that God's Word couldn't be stopped, but the enemy could slow it down.  So, Paul seeks the prayers of the church, to be sure that God's Word runs swiftly, just as it did there!

God's Word is powerful, in fact the Bible says, "The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword."  God's Word cannot be stopped! And, to make sure it moves swiftly as it is suppose to we must commit ourselves to prayer.  We must meet the enemy on the battle field of prayer daily, propelling the Gospel message forward!  God want everyone saved!  For this to happen the Gospel message must be brought to every nation and tribe on the earth!  A man named Carl Henry once said, "The Gospel is only good news if it gets there in time."  The Gospel is indeed the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ, but it must move swiftly throughout the world!  For the Gospel to move swiftly we are going to have to pray earnestly! The Gospel message will not be stopped, but we must pray those who are spreading it, joining with them in prayer, and praying for ourselves to be bold and fearless in sharing the message with others!

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,  that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak." Colossians 4:2-4
