Excel In Giving...

"But just as you excel in everything-in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us-see that you also excel in this grace of giving."

2 Corinthians 5:7

Paul reminds the church at Corinth of the giving of the Macedonian church, and how, though they didn't have a lot, they gave generously.  The Macedonian church had even pleaded with Paul for the opportunity to give, to help their brethren, who were spread out.    The church in Macedonia had a true understanding of the privilege it is to give to help their fellow brethren and to help with the furtherance of the Gospel.  Paul wanted the church at Corinth to learn from this example, and to excel in giving.

Giving should always be looked at as an opportunity and a privilege!  When we give to help our brethren in the Lord, it is the same as giving to the Lord.  And, when we give to help in the furtherance of the Gospel, we share in the reward of those who are physically doing it.  Our Father in Heaven set the standard for giving when He gave His only begotten Son for us!  God excels in giving, and, we His children, should do the same!  Give generously to the work of the Kingdom!  Remember it is a privilege and an honor to be able to give in the name of the Lord!  Live to be a blessing; excel in the grace of giving!

"You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."

2 Corinthians 9:11
