Hard To Understand...

"Jesus answered and said to him, 'What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.'" John 13:7

When Jesus began to wash the apostle's feet after dinner, it surely had to make them all wonder, "What was Jesus doing!"  Peter spoke up and expressed his disapproval for what Jesus was doing.  Peter just didn't understand what was going on.  And, though it seemed strange and out of place, and made no sense to him or the other apostles, Jesus assures Peter that what He was doing was necessary.  Jesus also tells Peter that he may not understand what's going on now, but a day would come when everything would make sense.

I'm sure we have all felt as Peter did that night.  We have all went through things in our life that made us wonder what God was thinking; did He hear our prayers...was He listening to our cries?  And, it is almost certain we will all face times like this again.  When we face these times, we would do well to take the words that Jesus spoke to Peter to heart, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this."  We're not always going to understand what God is doing, but we have to learn to trust Him!  And, in time, perhaps He will reveal to us why things have happened as they have.  God does not bring sickness or evil upon us, but there are times we go through trials, and times of refining that are hard to understand.  In those times, trust the Lord!  Know He loves you!  And though you may not understand what God is doing in your life, He does!  So trust Him, and remember; Father still knows best!!!

"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience." James 1:2-3
