Watchmen...

"I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the LORD, do not keep silent" Isaiah 62:6

God had assigned prophets to proclaim the coming destruction of Judah, and their need to repent and submit to the Lord, following His Commands.  It was up to the prophets to warn the nation, and proclaim God's Word without compromise.  The Word was often ignored, and all the prophets suffered some form of persecution for serving as a "watchman" of the Lord, and sounding the alarm.  Yet, whether the Word was accepted or ignored, their job was merely to sound the alarm, warning the people!

As the redeemed of the Lord we have been given the job of "watchmen".  We are to watch for the return of our Lord.  As good watchmen we must sound the alarm, and warn the nations of His return!  We must go to all the world and share the "Good News" of Jesus Christ!  For those who will receive His Word, His return will be a glorious day!  For those who reject the Lord's Word, His return will be a day of horror and dread!  Our job is not to make the nations receive the Word, our job is to sound the alarm, to let all know the "Good News" of Jesus Christ, and that His return is at hand!  

"Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand" Joel 2:1
