Religion...

"They knew me from the first, if they were willing to testify, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee." Acts 26:5

Before Paul was converted he was known to be very strict in his adherence to the Jewish religion; the laws made by God and the ones made by man.  This religion surely kept Paul confined within its boundaries.  For this is what religion does!  Religion keeps people confined, it exerts control over them.  But, one day Paul met Jesus on the road side and was set free form religion.  Jesus set Paul free!  And, that's what Jesus does for us!

Religion and Jesus should never be confused for the same thing!  Jesus set us free from the bonds of religion!  Religion wants to control, and it forbids the Holy Spirit from guiding us!  Jesus sets us free, that we may be led in all we do by the Spirit.  Religion uses fear to manipulate us.  Jesus uses love to empower us!  Religion shackles men and women and keeps them thinking in an earthly manner!  Jesus renews our mind that we may see things from a Kingdom perspective!  Religion teaches us limitations; it tells you, you can only go so far and do so much.  Jesus teaches us that nothing is impossible when we're with God!  Jesus teaches us if we can only believe we can accomplish anything!  Jesus teaches us not to be afraid to speak to the mountain, telling it to move, for it only requires a little faith!  Religion and Jesus are without doubt different!   Religion will keep you living with limits, but Jesus will set you free to live the impossible through Him!

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
