Listening To God...
"But he sent messengers to him, saying, "What have I to do with you, king of Judah? I have not come against you this day, but against the house with which I have war; for God commanded me to make haste. Refrain from meddling with God, who is with me, lest He destroy you."  Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself so that he might fight with him, and did not heed the words of Necho from the mouth of God. So he came to fight in the Valley of Megiddo." 2 Chronicles 35:21-22

Josiah was a godly king, a king that turned to God with all his heart, a king God had blessed and shown great mercy to.  But there came a time when Josiah acted on his own, not seeking God.  Josiah went out to fight against the king of Egypt and ignored God's warning to leave him alone.  Josiah battled with the Egyptian king despite God's word and was killed.

Even though Josiah was blessed and called by God, there were still consequences when he chose to ignore God's word.  Ignoring God's word always brings consequences.  The Bible says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."  When we heed God's Word and walk according to it, we can expect the blessings of God to flow into our life.  And when we ignore God's Word and warnings we can expect there to be consequences, for we will surely reap as we sow.  Listen to God!  Trust His Word!  Let us not be high-minded and prideful, ignoring the Lord, and leaning on our own understanding.

"O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. O LORD, correct me, but with justice; Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing." Jeremiah 10:23-24
