"Thus the children of Israel were subdued at that time; and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied on the LORD God of their fathers." 2 Chronicles 13:18

 

 

As Judah marches out to battle against her sister Israel there is a distinct difference between the two.  Israel has forsaken the God of their fathers, they now worship golden calves with no life in them.  Judah still clings to the Lord.  As the two march out to battle the Lord is going before Judah to fight against Israel.  Israel had the larger army, but despite this Judah prevails.  Judah relied on the Lord for the victory.  Even though Judah had a smaller army and was out matched, their trust was not in numbers but in the Lord.  Because they made a decision to follow after the Lord and put their trust in Him, they were given the victory by God.

 

If we wish to live a life of victory we must learn to rely on the Lord.  As children of God we are taught to walk by faith.  We cannot allow only the things we see to guide us.  Judah did not concentrate on the might of the enemy, or their own inability to properly defend themselves, instead they chose to concentrate on the Lord, and He brought them the victory.  If we will likewise keep our attention on the Lord relying on His strength we will be victorious no matter what the odds!  Rely on the Lord and allow Him to bring you the victory!
