Laboring...

"Then He said to them, 'The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.'" Luke 10:2

The word labor invokes thoughts of sweat and struggle.  If I'm going to be laboring at something I'm going to have to apply effort.  Jesus told His disciples to pray for laborers, for the harvest was great!  It is unfortunate with such a great harvest that many of God's children are unwilling to put for the effort that it will take to bring in the harvest of souls that awaits reaping.  Bringing in the harvest is not an easy task, but it is a worthy one!  A task that all of God's children are called to, but it is also a task that can easily go ignored.  We are the labors!  We are called to put our hands to the plough!  We are called to do the hard things!  We are called to work hard!  As Christians we must be willing to rise early and work late, to labor in prayer and bible study, in doing so we can change the world for Christ!  It is unfortunate that the welfare mentality has captured so much of the Christian world.  The mentality that does not want to labor hard, or grow fatigued in its life!  Fatigue is without doubt a price for the Great Commission Christian.  Mediocrity on the other hand is the mark of the Christian who never tires or grows fatigued in their labor for the Lord.  Don't be afraid to labor diligently for the Lord knowing He will fill you up when you pour yourself out!

"Holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all." Philippians 2:16-17
