^"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory."  

Psalm 63:1-2

David had a vision of the Lord in all His glory and power and this experience changed David forever!  This put the earth and all that could be gained here into perspective.  David, even in the wilderness, above water, desired the Lord!  He knew it was only the Lord that could truly quench is thirst!  After seeing the Lord exalted nothing else could satisfy David; he had to have the Lord!  Perhaps this why the Lord called David "a man after His own heart".  Jesus proclaimed the same sentiment when He said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord."  If you find yourself thirsty today turn your attention to the only One who can truly quench you thirst!  Seek after the Lord with all your heart!  Get a vision of Him in all His glory and you will long for nothing of this earth!  The things of this earth will always leave you thirsty, but the Lord can quench that thirst forever!
