A Father's Correction...
"O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure." Psalms 6:1
Just like any good earthly father, our Heavenly Father corrects His children when they begin to live their lives in a way that is destructive or unfruitful. To correct means to adjust or to amend. So from time to time it is necessary for our Heavenly Father to adjust our attitude or direction to keep us living the life of victory He has called us to. And though He corrects us it's important to realize He doesn't punish us. For the child of God, Jesus has taken our punishment. The Bible says, "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed." There is a distinct difference between punishment and correction. Punishment is a penalty imposed on someone for some wrongdoing. Correction is an alteration that removes an error. When we mess up and get off track God doesn't punish us with sickness or poverty; that is the work of the devil. Jesus already took the punishment for all we've done or will ever do. When we get off course, God as a loving Father adjusts our direction. Never forget Jesus took your punishment, don't look for God to lay it on you again. And when your Father corrects you, rejoice, and accept His reprimand.
"Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;" Psalms 94:12
