Testing...

"However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart."

2 Chronicles 32:31

Hezekiah was a godly king who sought to please the Lord.  The Lord had blessed him in every way.  But, even though Hezekiah was godly, it can be very easy for a blessed man to fall victim to his own pride if not kept in check.  This was Hezekiah's problem.  God tested Hezekiah's heart, but it was not for God's benefit, it was for Hezekiah's.

There is nothing hidden from God, even the matters of our heart.  God knew exactly where Hezekiah stood; the testing was for him to see.  The Bible declares that God looks at the heart of men, so He knows what we're made of.  Sometimes it's necessary for us to be tested so our heart can be revealed to us.  The godliest of men and women can fall to pride if they do not keep their heart in check.  It is often when everything is going great that we forget to check our heart, and fall victim to our own pride.  The Apostle Paul said he was careful to keep himself in check so that he didn't fall victim to the things he was preaching about.  No matter how long we have served the Lord we must remain humble before Him, that our hearts remain pure.  If you find you are being tested today, allow the test to reveal to you where you really stand.  Don't despise the test but rather rejoice in the truth of its revelation!

"Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --unless indeed you are disqualified."

2 Corinthians 13:5
