Perfect Communion...
"Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split," Matthew 27:51
The second Temple was modeled after the original Temple which in turn was modeled after the Tabernacle that God designed for the Children of Israel to worship and offer sacrifices. In the Tabernacle was a room called the Holy of Holies it was separated from the other part of the Tent by a thick curtain. The only person allowed to go into this room was the High Priest, and he was only allowed to go in there once a year. This is where the presence of God dwelt; if anyone else were to go in to it they would die. In our text we read when Jesus died the curtain that separated the dwelling place of God from all of mankind was ripped in two. At that point there was nothing separating God and man.
The tarring of the curtain in two symbolized that Christ had bridged the gap between God and man. Before Jesus man could not freely come into the presence of God, but now through Jesus Christ we are able to come into the presence of our Heavenly Father. We need no earthly man to give us permission or to be our go between. Jesus is the bridge that leads to the Father and that bridge has been built that all who would may come to the Father. What an incredible thought that we may come before our Heavenly Father at any Time because of what Jesus has done! Jesus made it possible for us to have perfect communion with the Father through Him and Him alone! What a blessing and a privilege, let us take advantage of it daily spending time with our Father!
"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6
