Least Of These...
"And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'" Matthew 25:40
Those looked down on by society, those who seemingly have nothing to offer, the rejected, unwanted, and forgotten Jesus said, as we do unto these we do unto Him. This is an incredible thought! As we feed the poor we are feeding Jesus! When we go to the nursing home and visit those forgotten by family and friends we are spending time with Jesus. As we send aid to other countries to help our persecuted brothers and sister in the faith that do not enjoy the freedoms we do in the United States we are aiding Jesus. Every time we do something to help the homeless, the widow, the orphan, those who cannot help themselves or have lost all hope we are helping Jesus!
On the other hand every time we refuse to help the down-and-out, the rejected, the widow, the orphan, those society has counted out we are refusing to help Jesus. When we rejected the "least of these" we are rejecting Jesus. Jesus said a day would come when those who have served Him, ministering to the "least of these" would enter His Kingdom, but a day would also come for those who looked upon only their own needs and ignored the "least of these" would go away into eternal punishment.
Always remember when you do something to bless the homeless, the orphan, the reject, "the least of these" you are doing it unto Jesus! How would you treat Jesus if you saw Him homeless on the street? How would you treat Him if He had no money, no food, was cast into prison? Look at how you are treating the "least of these" that live around you and you'll have your answer.
"He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, And He will pay back what he has given." Proverbs 19:17
