Scarlet Cord...
"So the men said to her: We will be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear, unless, when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father's household to your own home" Joshua 2:17-18
Before the children of Israel marched on Jericho, Joshua sent out two spies to scout out the land. While in Jericho the two spies came to the house of a harlot named Rahab. Rahab hid the men when the soldiers of Jericho came looking for them. In return for her kindness they assure her that they will spare her and her family when they return to fight against Jericho. They give her only one condition; she must hang up the scarlet cord she used to let the men down the wall. The scarlet cord would mark her home and that way the Israelites would know which home not to attack, but if the cord was not visible in the window she and all of her family would surely be destroyed.
The scarlet cord is a picture of the blood of Christ. All who are covered in the blood are passed over being destroyed just like Rahab was. Rahab was saved from death because she was marked by the scarlet cord, and when we are marked by the blood of Jesus, death and destruction cannot touch us! Jericho was cursed, but Rahab passed through the curse. Because of the blood of Christ all believers pass through the curse that rest upon all mankind, because of man's sin. Jesus has taken our sin, washed us in His blood, and freed us from the curse of sin and death! We are FREE!!
"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." 1 John 1:7
