"He has brought us to this place and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey;and now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land which you, O LORD, have given me. Then you shall set it before the LORD your God, and worship before the LORD your God."  

Deuteronomy 26:9-10

Israel was right around the corner from entering a land flowing with "milk and honey"; a bountiful land. God was going to bless them with this land, a land they had done nothing to earn, and they did not deserve. They were going to be extremely blessed in this land, and when they received the bountiful blessing of the land they were to remember that it was God who blessed them. They were to offer the firstfruits of the land to the Lord, and they were to do it with a celebration. The giving of the firstfruits was not to be done grudgingly, but with gratefulness! They were returning a small portion of what God had blessed them with; in truth they were only giving back to God what was already His to begin with.

God is still in the business of blessing His children with good things! Things they have not earned, but things He delights to give to them because of their stance with Jesus. And still today we are to remember God with the firstfruits of all He blesses us with; the first of our finances, our time, all that He gives us. Everything belongs to God, we are only stewards of all God has entrusted us with. We are to return the firstfruits to God, and we are to do it with celebration! It is to be a joy to bring our offering before the Lord! Honor God with the firsfruits of all you have been entrusted with, and do it with joy and celebration!

"Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine."
