"You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the LORD your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land." Deuteronomy 15:10-11

The children of Israel are reminded to be generous when taking care of their brethren and the poor of the land. The poor and needy would always live among them, so those with means were to help those without. God assures them that as they do this He will take care of them. As they gave to the poor and needy God gave back to them.

God expects us to be generous today! We are to give freely and spontaneously. We are to keep a generous heart and not a stingy one. The way we give to the poor and needy will trigger God's blessings in all we do. All we put our hand to will be blessed when we take care of the poor and hopeless. Let us be generous when it comes to taking care of our brothers and sister in the Lord, the poor and needy, and those who are without the hope of Jesus Christ, knowing that as we give out of a willing and generous heart God will return it to us. God will bless us in all we do!
